United Methodist Women

 of Little Utica UMC

Autumn Greetings!

It seems like it was just Memorial Day weekend, but here we are in the middle of September. The United Methodist Women of Little Utica are busy getting ready for several exciting, upcoming events. The visit from Bishop Mark Webb on October 19th tops our list of special occasions. There will be a worship service at 4:00 pm, followed by a dinner and tour of the church. We are very honored to have Bishop Webb’s visit coincide with the 187th anniversary of our church. The following week, on October 26th, will feature a Craft Fair at the church from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm. A wide variety of items will be available for sale, as well as lunch and baked goods. It isn’t too early to begin thinking about Christmas shopping!

One of our most important missions is our support of The Schneider Foundation. Our ongoing support of this very special organization includes making robes and blankets, as well as providing gift cards with food vouchers through the year at special occasions. And as always, our members have been working throughout the year making mittens, hats, and socks for families in need. These are placed on a Christmas tree for distribution during the holiday season.

The UMW’s newest mission is to provide assistance to families in our neighborhood who are in need. This includes food vouchers, and providing assistance with meals and small jobs that need to be done. Additionally, we work with the Fire Department to assist families through our New 2 You Boutique and Schoolhouse when clothing or small household items are needed. We will also be having a Winter Items Giveaway that includes coats and boots. More information about this will be coming later in the fall.

The United Methodist Women’s most important mission is our New 2 You Boutique and The Schoolhouse store, which are open every Thursday and on the first Saturday of each month from 9:00 am – 11:00 am. Both provide a much-needed service by offering gently used clothing and household goods for very low prices. Our sincerest thanks go out to everyone who supports our missions, either by donating or purchasing items at our stores. We couldn’t operate without the support of our loyal customers and their generous donations.
Blessings to All,
Donna Fingland, UMW President
